Today is a very special day in Cromer, as it is World Ocean day.
So we thought we’d list the top ten best things about living by the sea, and chuck in a quiz too.
1. The beach!
We wouldn’t have a beach without the sea, and without the beach we wouldn’t have our favourite picnic spots, sandcastle galleries, and of course, the beautiful views.
2. The waves
There’s nothing more calming than listening to the waves on a stroll along the coast.
3. The wildlife
Visitors to Cromer Pier are often said to have seen seals bobbing along in the ocean beside the pier.
4. The delicacies
It wouldn’t be Cromer if we didn’t have the iconic Cromer crab on offer! Plus, our fish and chips wouldn’t be nearly so fresh.
5. The business
So much of Cromer’s business is bolstered on the fact that we have the seafront on our doorstep .Of course, a healthy dose of good hospitality and independent business helps!
6. The Pier
How could we have a pier without the sea? The Pier offers the world’s only remaining end of the Pier show, and offers a stunning spectacle to residents and visitors.
7. The scenery
Cromer offers scenery unlike any other spot in Norfolk. Photographers from across the country travel to the north Norfolk coast for its stunning outlooks.
Of course, we couldn’t have any salt water paddles without the ocean!
9. The promenade
It wouldn’t be the same having traditional fairground rides and candy floss stalls without the sea beside it. Plus, you wouldn’t be able to look out to sea from the top of the helter skelter.
10. The community
Having a beach brings out the very best in the community, from beach cleans to activity days for kids on the sand, being beside the sea is at the heart of the town.
