The restaurant has bought Lewis the Timely Hare, on of the sculptures from this year’s Break charity GoGoHares! trail, and placed him in an area in front of the downstairs toilets.

Lauren Dunthorpe, No. 1’s downstairs manager, said the hare was a proving a hit with young and old visitors alike.

“It’s become a centrepiece. He’s definitely attracting people.”

Lewis’s design by artist MJ Hiblen was inspired by time travel, steampunk and the mad March hare from Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland.

The sculpture was displayed in Tombland in central Norwich for 11 weeks over summer during the art trail.

He was bought at auction on October 11 for £4,000.

Ms Dunthorpe said Lewis would be on show permanently at the restaurant.
