Hairs to you! Salon to celebrate 30 years

The team at a north Norfolk salon are getting ready to mark 30 years of cutting off, combing out, curling up and colouring through.
Panache, in Cromer’s Prince of Wales Road, will celebrate the milestone with cake and bubbly on October 5, exactly three decades on from when Carol and Ray Thomas bought the salon, which was originally called Pearson’s.
Mrs Tipple, 49, who runs the business with her parents, said she was thrilled they had lasted so long.
She said: “We have always been a busy salon, priding ourselves on good customer care. Carol, Ray and myself are partners in the business with my parents moving to Spain 12 years ago.
“Carol bought a holiday home in Spain 18 years ago and so cut back on hours a bit - then moved there.
“Mum comes back for regular visits to make sure I’m running the shop OK, and the Christmas work do.”
Mrs Tipple started at the salon in April 1989 and did her training.
Her sister, Zoe Thomas, also worked there for eight years, but left in 1996 for career as an airline cabin crew member.
She said the salon did the hair for Cromer Carnival’s queens for many years, and the birth of her son Jordan 22 years ago even had a small part in the town’s famous celebration.
Mrs Tipple said: “My son’s birth was read out on the pier forecourt in 1996 by (carnival chairman) Tony Shipp, as I was giving birth, while the girls were doing the hair.”
She said they had been lucky with finding excellent staff over the years, and the team currently included Sarah Rushmer, who had worked there for 20 years, Jo Cooper, who started 10 years ago, Emma Allright, who has been there for nine years, and Zoe Moore, who has worked there for three-and-a-half years.
Mrs Tipple said she was looking forward to sharing a laugh and a glass of champagne with some of the salon’s clients and supporters on the day of the anniversary.
She said: “We are having cake and bubbly to celebrate our great achievement.
“We would like to thank all of our clients past and present for their valued custom and also all of our staff who have all worked hard and very well together.”
