With regular events ranging from kids’ clubs and craft sessions, to mens’ breakfasts, social lunches and toddler groups for dads, Cromer Parish Church is the hub of the community.

This week we talk to Rev Dr Peter Herbert, who has been curate at Cromer since 2013.

Peter, who hails from Bristol, gained a science degree at Cambridge University, before going on to study for a doctorate in astrophysics at the University of Hertfordshire.

He then trained at theology college in London and, after being ordained five years ago, moved to Cromer with his wife Caroline to take up his first position as curate of the parish church of St Peter and St Paul and of St Martin’s, at Suffield Park.

Peter, who is a governor at Suffield Park Infants School, is also a chartered librarian and recently worked on cataloguing part of the collection at Felbrigg Hall.

He will be moving to Thetford, to take over at St Cuthbert’s Church, in October and says he has “mixed feelings” about leaving behind the “wonderful town” and community of Cromer
