More than 2,000 Cromer residents and visitors have come out to show their support for their favourite eateries in the town.

Thanks to residents’ uniquely lucky position of having multiple top-notch cafes and restaurants on their door step, we decided to put the people’s preference to the test and crown a winner in each ‘Best of Cromer’ category.

All businesses who are either nominees or winners were suggested and championed by customers themselves, and we would like to offer our congratulations to all involved.

After much debate on our ECM Facebook group, the votes have spoken for themselves. Here are your winners

The Best Ice Cream in Cromer: The Reef Stop.

The Reef Stop dominated this category, earning near 300 votes and 66pc of submissions overall.

Voters said:

Alessandro Sala: “The one next the cromer pizza house is the best. Their new whippy are heavenly, especially the cappuccino one.”

Jon Dunn: “Blue Sky cafe near the carnival field sell several amazing flavours of Kelly’s Cornish ice cream - they get my vote!”

Congratulations go to nominees Windows in Cromer and the Lifeboat Cafe.

The Best Crab Sandwich in Cromer: Davies Fish Shop.

With half the votes, this win will come as no surprise to crab connoisseurs.

Congratulations go to nominees Davies Fish Shop, Jetty Cafe, Breakers, and About With Friends.

The Best Family Eatery in Cromer: The Garden Street Grill.

One of the most hotly contested titles, the Garden Street Grill earns the award thanks to more than 100 people backing their business.

Voters said:

Leighanne Moseley: “Breakers, Craft Burger, Morrison’s.”

Sue Gilder: “On a sunny summer’s day picnics sitting on the beach!”

Congratulations also go to nominees Rocket House Cafe, Craft Burger, Browne’s on Bond Street, Upstairs at No.1, the Red Lion Pub, Bolton’s Bistro, Crab Pot Cafe, The Kings’ Head and Albion.

The Best Place For Those with Dietary Requirements in Cromer: The Old Rock Shop Bistro.

A firm favourite in town for a decade, the Old Rock Shop Bistro takes the title.

Congratulations also go to the nominated Henry’s, the Rocket House Cafe, the Garden Street Grill, Browne’s on Bond Street, the Red Lion, and No.1.

The Best Milkshake in Cromer: Shakes, Rattle and Roll.

Newcomers to the town Shakes, Rattle and Roll have clinched the title after only opening in the summer. What’s even more impressive is that they earned half of the overall votes in their category.

Sonia Besley: “Shakes Rattle and Roll... As simple or as many extras as you like.”

Laura George: “Coffee Therapy does the best milkshakes!”

Congratulations go to nominees Henry’s Milkshakes, Windows,

The Best Cafe in Cromer: The Old Rock Shop Bistro.

With near 300 votes, the Old Rock Shop Bistro stood above the rest thanks to their ongoing dedication to the town.

Congratulations go to nominees Breakers, Henry’s, the Rocket House, Cafe Main, About With Friends, Huckleberries, Buttercups, Blue Sky Cafe, the Art House Cafe, and the Jetty Cafe.

The Best Takeaway in Cromer: Mary Janes

The Garden Street favourite was always a front-runner for this title, and they didn’t disappoint.

Voters said:

Joanne Moustouka: “China City Great especially the duck in plum sauce!”

Congratulations also go to nominees Kanton, No.1, Coast Kebab, Bann Thai, Le Moon, Hot Rocket, and Indian on the Cliff.

Best Fish and Chips in Cromer: Mary Janes

The chippie will be very happy to take home this title, thanks to Cromer’s famous reputation as a fish and chips hot spot.

Voters said:

Ricky Tommy Ossitt: “Chip man van from meadow close.”

Theresa Rogers: “No 1 no contest.”

Congratulations also go to nominees No.1 Cromer, Park Chippy, and Coast Kebab.

Best Pub in Cromer: The Wellington

The most-voted category and one of the closest, The Wellington came out on top thanks to their near 400 voters.

Voters said:

Rachael Welda Verlander nominated the Gunton Arms.

And Alan Clarke said: “Any pub that has a gluten free menu.”

Congratulations also go to nominees The White Horse, The King’s Head, The Red Lion and The Albion.

Best Breakfast in Cromer: Breakers

What would a windy day on the beach be without following up with the perfect brunch? Breakers clinched the title with their traditional breakfasts which have earned them love from far and wide. Congratulations go to nominees the Lifeboat Cafe, Cafe Main, the Rocket House Cafe, Peggotys, Browne’s on Bond Street and the Jetty Cafe.
