Cromer Crab has been listed as the “best thing” Great British Bake Off winner Nadiya Hussain has eaten all year.
The food writer said to the Guardian: “The best thing I have eaten this year is Cromer crab in Norfolk.
“We all talk about fresh food but when the journey from boat, to boiling water, to mouth is so short you really can tell the difference.”
The presenter of Nadiya’s British Food Adventure added: “Although I would rather somebody else does the boat bit!”
Cromer crab may be one of the more accessible dishes from the Guardian list, with other mentions going to poached brain at Paris’ Clown Bar, tater tots and caviar in New York, and some particularly spectacular home made crisps from a now closed Cambridgeshire restaurant.
The 32-year-old chef also added the best thing she drank all year: “I drank kombucha for the first time. It is a fermented tea, which sounds disgusting but it is sweetened and you can flavour it with different fruits.
“The only way I can describe it is it tastes like apple cider vinegar mixed with fruit.
“That doesn’t make it sound any more appealing. But it is so delicious.”
