Not everything at this year’s Crab and Lobster Festival will have a nautical theme.

Green fingers will also something to shout about at a new gardening festival, which will run on Saturday, May 19 - the first day of the main festival - the North Lodge Park in Overstrand Road.

The gardening festival will offer something for everyone from experienced gardeners to aspiring green fingers. There will be stalls run by plant specialists selling flora and giving out advice, as well as a plant swap and demonstrations.

There will also be activities for children including sunflower painting, a mini-scarecrow competition and garden angel building.

Barry Meadows, secretary of the Friends of North Lodge Park, encouraged people to get involved.

He said: “The organisers are looking for creative ideas around the gardening theme to make the day really special, and for local businesses to take a stall to bring their products to the attendees.”

Email friends@northlodgepark.org.uk or visit northlodgepark.org.uk to find out more or book a stall.
